The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) together with its commercial arm MCAST Gateway to the Industry (MG2I) signed a collaborative agreement with Jiangsu Vocational College of Medicine (JSMC).
Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the People’s Republic of China H.E. John Busuttil paid an official visit to Yancheng, a city of 8 Million people in Jiangsu Province.
The agreement between the two institutions aims to enhance educational opportunities through diverse initiatives, such as student and faculty exchange programmes, dual degrees, cultural immersion and resource sharing.
MCAST Deputy Principal for Business Development and Communications Mr Stephen Vella, said, “We think that international alliances like the one unfolding here greatly benefit our students. Any opportunity to link up with foreign countries, foreign cultures and philosophies and ways of looking at and interacting with the world around us is bound to help us grow further, widening our scope and vision.”
JSMC in collaboration with MCAST has already set up a new Centre in Paola, which is the first Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine (MRCTCM) in Europe. This Centre is providing people in Malta with an alternative medical system to treat pain and illness.
Chinese lecturers in vocational medicine and nursing have already started visiting MCAST giving lectures to students in Malta, and the first exchange of Maltese lecturers to China is expected later on this year.
JSMC gives great importance to developing students’ practical abilities. This correlates well with MCAST’s approach of delivering education. Thus, a mutual ground for both Colleges is in place.
This initiative was made possible through collaboration with Education Malta.
