The Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) signed a new collaborative agreement with GEM16+ Education Programme Centre. This agreement will help to consolidate the relationship between the two institutions, aimed at developing and strengthening the diffusion of knowledge within the local sphere.
This renewed partnership will see the College enroll students who have successfully completed qualifications through the GEM16+ Programme in a more direct manner. The College will ensure that prospective students are admitted for the right educational programme to maximise the probability of their success.
Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima and Permanent Secretary Mr Matthew Vella attended the event.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by MCAST Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja and Head of School Gem16+ Mr Innocent Aquilina.
Speaking during the signing ceremony MCAST Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja explained how, “such an agreement will benefit the goals of both institutions in creating successful educational experiences to prospective students. We are committed to focusing on creating strong partnerships with local institutions and preparing a skilled and professional future workforce that meets the objectives of today and tomorrow.”
Moreover, the College will be moderating GEM16+ assessment in Mathematics, English, Maltese and other subjects, as required, to ensure progression towards MCAST. GEM16+ provides students who leave compulsory schooling without formal (MATSEC) qualifications with a second opportunity of succeeding in an academic route.
