The College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) and the Environment Resource Authority (ERA) reached an agreement that will see the two entities collaborating to generate more awareness in favor of the environment.
This agreement signed by MCAST Principal and CEO Prof. Joachim James Calleja and ERA CEO Architect Michelle Piccinino will see MCAST up the ante in its quest to provide education and training aimed toward creating a workforce that embraces and values the environmental sector.
Prof. Calleja argued, “MCAST, is keen to work with learners by instilling skills and values for better environmental awareness and resource management.”
Prof. Calleja elaborated on MCAST’s mission in this regard, “we are committed to focusing on sustainable development and preparing a skilled and professional future workforce that meets environmental objectives of today and tomorrow.”
Importantly, this agreement will help MCAST in strengthening training and research on the marine environment, climate change, air pollution, noise pollution, water resource management, biodiversity, and other environmental fields.
Minister for Education and Sports Hon. Clifton Grima explained how this agreement between MCAST and ERA will, “contribute toward the work being done by the Government in the environmental sector.”
On his part, Minister for the Environment and Climate Change Hon. Aaron Farrugia elaborated why the environment is on top of the Government’s agenda. He argued, “This agreement will ensure that more young individuals become active and participate toward creating an environmentally conscious society.”
