Archbishop Charles J Scicluna visited the MCAST campus in Paola on 22 October. The Archbishop was welcomed at the college by the President of the Board of Governors Professor Ian Refalo, Principal and CEO Professor Joachim James Calleja, and the chaplaincy team.
During his welcome address Professor Calleja, said “the college’s key values of inclusion and equity are blended into MCAST’s mission, for the future. These values will help MCAST empower students by providing an environment that cares for its learners’ well-being.”
MCAST chaplain Father Richard Ebejer explained the pivotal role that the college’s chaplaincy team is carrying out. Fr Ebejer explained “the importance of offering students the right support which prepares them for life.”
After blessing the college’s gonfalon, Archbishop Scicluna stated that he is pleased to see that “MCAST is a place where students are cherished and valued.” In his dialogue with students, the Archbishop highlighted the overall importance of having a trustworthy friend in life and the goods each student could share with others. He encouraged them to be open in expressing their views prudently and to use their varied skills in voluntary work .
Accompanied by MCAST’s Student Council members, he visited the student house youth hub, where he met students from the six institutes. While moving along the MCAST Campus, the Archbishop had the opportunity to meet and chat with various students and staff members.
