For the safety of its community and due to the current COVID-19 restrictions on social gatherings, the Malta College for Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) has decided to postpone graduation ceremonies initially planned for the end of November.
Around 680 students were scheduled to attend fourteen graduation ceremonies over the coming weeks. The new date for the ceremonies will be communicated to students in 2021 subject to government guidelines on large gatherings and social distancing. In the meantime, students have been provided with transcripts so that they can progress with further studies and career opportunities.
MCAST Principal and CEO Prof Joachim James Calleja said: “We have taken the difficult decision to postpone the graduation ceremony after careful consideration and consultation with the health authorities and the MCAST Student Council. The graduation ceremony is the highlight of the College’s academic year and more importantly, the culmination of the students’ hard work and learning journey. However, in the current situation, it is crucial to minimise risks to our community and to postpone large ceremonies to a date when students can fully celebrate their achievements with family, friends and lecturers.”
